"I really really loved Iyanya '- Yvonne Nelson reveals in new interview

"I really really loved Iyanya '- Yvonne Nelson reveals in new interview:
The Ghanaian actress had a very revealing interview with Bella Naija today where she opened up about her relationship with Iyanya and how much he hurt her. Excerpts:
BN: How long did the two of you date and how would you describe the relationship?

YN: We dated for 7 to 8 months. We had something and I thought it was
special, like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other
girls and other things he was doing. Aside the actress that was in the
picture, there were a lot more. That is how bad it is. We were in a
relationship and he lied throughout and he was able to do all those
things because I wasn’t living in Nigeria. But aside from the distance, I
feel if you’re a genuine person and you’re loyal, you would still not
do that.
BN: Is this actress you’re talking about actually Tonto Dikeh?

YN: I feel it’s disrespectful to start mentioning other people’s names. I am
talking about Iyanya because we had a thing, I don’t want to bring in a
third person. There were a lot of names that people know. There was a
girl from South Africa, I’m not going to mention names but she was part
of Big Brother Africa last year.
More when you continue...

BN: Most people only got to know that you and Iyanya were dating after you broke up. Were you deliberately being secretive about it?

YN: I also don’t believe in putting my relationships in the faces of people.
We both had our careers and were trying to protect our fan base and
that’s cool. But if you go through my Instagram page, you’d see a couple
of pictures of us together. I wasn’t shy about anything but he could
not say he’s dating Yvonne Nelson because he had different people he was
seeing so it was very hard for him to bring it out.

BN: What did the experience teach you?

YN: There are some things that you don’t get to learn in school; people
can’t advice you, you won’t even listen. You just have to experience it
to learn. I have no regrets that I went through it, it would have
happened anyway. We are all human beings. We fall in love once in a
while but if it doesn’t work out, that’s OK.

BN: Have you moved on since then?

YN: I have! It happened last year but I’ve moved on. I’ve been working hard,
been producing movies. I still listen to his music, I love his album. I
love the Track 1 with MI and I love, ‘I Got It’. He is a very talented
guy, I always have goose bumps on my body when he sings.

BN: Aside from the music, what else was the attraction?

YN: You can’t really explain when you love somebody. It’s everything. It was
just something that I felt and I can’t explain. It was love, I really
really loved him and he knows that.

BN: How do you feel about him now and what message would you like to pass on to him if you had the chance?

YN: Iyanya is such an amazing person but I just feel he needs to be more
honest and be a man of his words. It’s not good if he takes advantage of
women. My Mum always says any man who takes advantage of women won’t
end up well. It’s Karma, it’s going to come back to you. He should treat
women fairly and he should be an honest person. It’s been a while
though, I haven’t seen him. He is doing amazing things in his career and
I wish him luck.

Brain training app brings big data to human cognition

Brain training app brings big data to human cognition:

One of the problems with cognitive and behavioral research is getting a good cross-section of the general population. Although they're convenient to work with, a couple hundred college students rarely represent the full diversity of human capability and behavior, yet that's exactly what many studies rely on. But a brain-training game may now provide access to data on scales that behavioral scientists probably never dreamed of. With a user base of over 35 million, the data obtained through the game could help us tease out very subtle effects. But as a start, a team of researchers have focused on some simpler questions: how aging and alcohol affect our ability to learn.
The software is less a game itself than a game and survey platform. Developed by a company called Lumosity, it's available on mobile platforms and through a Web interface. The platform can run a variety of games (a typical one asks users to answer math questions that appear in raindrops before they hit the ground), all with an emphasis on brain training. A few games are available for free and users can pay to get access to more advanced ones.
The scientific literature on brain training games is a bit mixed, and there's some controversy about whether the games improve mental function in general, or only those specific areas of cognition that the game focuses on. Lumosity clearly argues for the former and one of its employees pointed Ars to a number of studies that he felt validate the company's approach. What's not in doubt, however, is that it has a huge user base with over 35 million registered users. And because the Lumosity platform is flexible, it has been able to get basic demographic information from many of those users; they and others have also filled out personality profiles and other assessments.

Instagram to jump into social micro-video

Instagram hopes 15 seconds will be better than six for social micro-video:
Instagram
The rumors are true—Facebook-owned Instagram will jump into the micro-video service after all. Today at an event at Facebook's Menlo Park campus, the company announced its new "Video on Instagram" service.
Video on Instagram will allow app users to shoot videos anywhere from 3-to-15 seconds long—unlike the mere six seconds of Vine. Video allows for the use of multiple cuts, 13 video-unique filters, and an image stabilization tool called Cinema.  (Instagram has a quick explainer video available for that last feature, available for iPhone 4S/5 only.)
"Over the past two and a half years, Instagram has become a community where you can capture and share the world’s moments simply and beautifully," Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom wrote in the service's introductory post. "Some moments, however, need more than a static image to come to life."

Embrace Discomfort to Overcome Learning Plateaus
When you're learning a new skill, you eventually hit a plateau where it feels like you can't learn any more or get any further. It's hard to burst through this plateau. As 99U points out, one of the best ways to deal with those plateaus is to embrace the discomfort and push onward.

Why we oppose use of condom for family planning - Catholic Church

Why we oppose use of condom for family planning - Catholic Church:
Culled from Punch
The Catholic church says it opposes
artificial family planning techniques, because it encourages
bastardization of sexual activities by young people and “impedes normal
procreation.”
The Secretary-General of the Catholic
Secretariat of Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ralph Madu, made this clarification in a
response to an enquiry by The Punch on Sunday.
He said, “The Catholic Church believes
that modern means, including the use of condoms is morally bad because
it impedes normal procreation. You can meet with your wife when you do
not want children and those periods when the woman is not fertile
instead of having to destroy the sperm and all other forms of artificial
prevention.
“They are very artificial means and they do not really give the moral lesson that borders around the use of the sexual organs.

“The one that gives you the opportunity
to exercise your sexual urge without the consequences is the natural
method and the church says you should go for the natural means.”

According to him, the excuse that it
reduces the spread of HIV/AIDS remains invalid and untenable, adding
HIV/AIDS is a disease that is prevalent among young people.

Madu added, “When you are talking about
condom among young people, you are also talking about promiscuity.
People have adduced arguments in case of people with HIV/AIDS and
especially couples who do not want children. The use of condom and other
modern means are being bastardized among young young people because
they will resort to the use of condom so that they can have sex freely
without impregnating the woman or getting pregnant.

“Those are various artificial means and
the church is strongly against them. Instead, the church endorsed the
natural method of copulation.”
