Walking a Mile in the Customer's Shoes: Every leadership team understands the importance of being customer-centric. For a startup company, the most critical milestone is finding what the venture capitalists (VC) call “product/market fit.” Does our product solve an important problem and are customers willing to buy it? This question is so salient that I feel the entire management team needs to firmly commit to deeply understanding the customer’s problem—walking a mile in the customer’s shoes. This can be harder to do than it sounds.
